On 11th - 12th of April 2024, the Mission Forum was animated by Rev. Fr. Johnson Kallidukil, the Assistant General and GCIC for MISSIONS. Fr. Johnson spoke about our Quality, our Identity and our Belongingness. The mission that is entrusted to us is of Christ; hence we need to be Christ–like. So, our actions are to be peppered with Compassion, Kindness, and Humility etc. Fr Manoj Tirkey, the Provincial Superior, on his part animated the gathering in the context of the ground reality of the missions, which he visited during his Canonical Visit to the different Missions and based himself on what he saw. The Provincial also shared his Concerns and the Challenges faced by the various Missions and the Religious communities. He also gave specific directions to the gathering in matters of our relationship with the people of God, our Collaborators, elaborating our sincerity in the area of Accounts and in managing our financial matters. Rev. Fr. Agnelo Fernandes, the PCIC for Missions spoke to the Mission Forum, the qualities of the Salesian/Fransalian Pastors. Our identity necessarily impacts our Pastoral approach. Our Charism is our Identity. He challenged us to “To live the Talk and Walk the Talk’, to strengthen our witness and to make people to absorb our spirit. Thereafter, the gathering was invited to evaluate the implementation of the Action Plan of GC 19 and the PC 2023. It was noted; that a number of measures have already been implemented as far as GC 19 was concerned. Fr Provincial informed that although the PC 2023 took place barely six months back, a number of the measures were already initiated. Suggestions were made to respond to the Challenges. The Forum greeted, Fr Jijo Thomas of the Mozambique Delegation. He explained to the house about the vast mission under taken by the Province in Mozambique. The new Parishes in the Diocese of Tete and Guruve, having 20,000 Catholics each were served by just 2 MSFS Confreres. He appealed to the forum to volunteer to work for few years in the Mozambique Delegation. Thus, by lunch time the meeting came to an end.
